CCSRA was established in 1951 at the Port Angeles Library, holding four meetings in its first year: October, December, April, and June. The 1951-1952 CCSRA officers were: President Hazel Murray, Vice President Thelma Robinson, Secretaries Olga Anderson and Edith Romick, and Treasurer George Wiltse.
The establishment of CCSRA followed the creation of the state-wide Washington State School Retirees Association in 1947, for the purpose of supporting retirees across the state. The first state convention CCSRA attended was in 1952 in Bellingham, WA.
